PortAventura has released more information about their new park coming to the Spanish PortAventura Resort. Ferrari Land (Not to be confused with Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi) is predicted to open in early 2017, and has an aimed completion date of late 2016. The main attraction of this large addition is what is now being called “Europe’s highest and fastest vertical accelerator”, a new style coming from Intamin, where instead of using a hydraulic launch system, it will use magnetic force to launch, most likely LSM’s. The stats have been released from the park, it will stand 112 m (367 ft) tall and have a max speed of 180 km/h (111 mph). This will most likely be reached on the launch, will reach its max speed in 5 seconds. The ride will be heavily themed around F1 racing, and will surely fit in well with the area’s overall theme.
With PortAventura getting the rights to Ferrari, they seem to already have high hopes for the expansion, with other news still to be announced such as additional rides. More specifically, a pair of S&S shot/drop towers have also been announced for the park. Whatever the park receives along with their vertical accelerator will surely help this new addition be very successful and popular to the public.
